The BabyCenter Software engineer is responsible for the construction of consumer and advertising software solutions, using a team-based approach and collaborating with all functions on the team to ensure that each feature delivered is of the highest quality and conforms to BabyCenter engineering standards.You are a highly motivated self-starter who loves ownership and responsibility while working in a collaborative and interdependent team environment. You'll be an integral member of the engineering team and the main point of contact for all support issues as you learn the application and grow into a development role. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and love to be challenged.The ideal candidate has 1 to 2 years of professional experience using Java/J2EE, an understanding of RESTful web services, experience working with new technology stacks, and a desire to build great products for new and expecting parents.
Responsibilities include being the hands-on Java developer responsible for coding and writing automated test cases on new or enhanced website features.Participate in deploying, operating, scaling, tuning, refactoring, and troubleshooting team products with guidance from senior engineers.Commit to higher quality standards by adhering to coding standards and guidelines directed by team Architect.Bepart of an agile scrum team and participate in scrum ceremonies.
BS/MS in computer science or similar degree is required. 1-2 years web development experience using Java/J2EE, MVC pattern, Spring suite of frameworks, Hibernate, and related technologies (including project or internship experience) is required. Understanding of building RESTful web services in a service-oriented-architecture environment using cloud infrastructures is required. Strong understanding and usage of computer science fundamentals, distributed processing, algorithms, problem solving, design patterns, and OO design is required. Knowledge of web performance testing and profiling is preferred. Ideal candidatesare energetic, positive, passionate, willing to take initiative, attentive to details, and eager to learn continuously in a challenging environment.
